Q: I know the Titanic left on April 10, 1912. And the wreck occurred 4/14/1912, and went down the 15th. But what day were they scheduled to arrive in America? And how long would the journey have taken?
A: At Southampton, there was a brief reshuffling of officers, not to mention a whole lot of last minute preparations. By April 10th,1912 everything was ready and the ship set sail. The previous captain who had been replaced by Captain Smith at Southampton had planned to be in New York on Tuesday the 16th. Captain Smith planned to arrive in New York at 5 in the morning on Wednesday the 17th. The trip was scheduled for 7 days according to Captain Smith's schedule.
