Q: Okay I have wanted an 89ish mustang GT since i was probably 6 or 7. What should i expect to pay for a good one with no problems? i am only 18 and i am not looking for a project car or anything like that. i do not know much about cars so i don't want something that will break down a lot. What should i expect to pay for a GT like that and is it even worth my time and money? it would not be a daily driver. i live in the south so i don't need to worry about having a rwd car
A: In my opinion a 20 year old V8 Ford is not the best choice for you if you plan on driving it every day. This car will get extremely poor gas mileage while only having mediocre performance compared to modern sports cars (0-60mph in 6.2 is pretty quick even today, but in comparison my 05 Honda Accord V6 with a 6speed MT goes 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds). This car is old and puts out some power so it will be in need of repairs more frequently than you might like since you do not know how to fix it yourself. I would suggest buying a newer car with better gas mileage and safety features for now, and maybe have a late 80's Mustang as your weekend car when you can afford to have 2, becuase I do not think you will be happy driving the mustang every day. Also, does it snow where you live? Here in Maine it is nearly impossible and an extreme pain to drive a RWD vehicle with a good amount of power in the snow.
